Comedy Clubs to Check out During Your Myrtle Beach Vacation
Work got you bogged down? Ready for a vacation with some laughs? Myrtle Beach is a great place to check live comedy shows. The next time you stay at hotel BLUE, you should definitely check out these two comedy clubs to lose the stress of your everyday life and loosen up!
The Comedy Cabana, which is located on North Kings Highway on the north end of Myrtle Beach, offers guests an intimate dinner show, with a variety of shows. In fact, it is the only 5-Star Comedy Club here in Myrtle Beach!
Shows typically run at 8 p.m. as well as at 10:15 p.m. on Friday and Saturday evenings. This schedule is perfect, because if you want to go to the earlier show and have dinner and a few drinks, then you can get an early start on your evening! Otherwise, if you want to hit up the later show at 10:15 p.m., you can grab an appetizer and a couple of drinks before hitting up the clubs or turning in for the night.
If you arrive early, you can have a drink at the Good Humor Bar & Grill. Once in the venue, you can order dinner and drinks. Dinner items include the Whoopie Goldburger, Letterman’s Chicken Sandwich and the Cabana Salad. You must purchase at least two items during the show, such as a sandwich and a beer. Most shows are opened by resident comedian Cooter Douglas, who gets the crowd laughing and ready for even more comedy.
It’s best to order your tickets in advance, to be sure you get tickets to the show you want. Show your VMB Card and you will get buy one get one half off admission (not valid on Saturdays or for special events).
A variety of nationally touring comedians have taken the stage here including Mark Sweeney, T.J. Miller, J.J. Ramirez and Tim Walkoe. There is usually a new comedian performing each week, so you can have the chance to see a variety of artists perform! Some of the performers even stick around for a bit after the show to meet the audience and have a drink at the bar. It’s pretty cool when you can meet the performer after the show!
If you plan on bringing teens with you, they have to be at least 15 years old and must be with an adult. This past summer the club produced a Family Friendly show, so be on the lookout for a possible lineup for next summer if you have kids with you.
If improvisational comedy is more your style, visit the Carolina Improv Comedy at the Uptown Theater, which is located in the Myrtle Beach Mall. Whether your want to enroll in an improv class, or attend a show, Carolina Improv Comedy has it all!
Ever seen “Whose Line is it Anyways?” Improv is similar to the show and features acts put on by comedians trained in improvisational comedy. They take suggestions from the crowd, which makes the night even more fun and entertaining.
Throughout the year, the theater puts on a variety of shows, such as “Whose Beach is it Anyway?” and “50 Shades of Improv.” Some shows are family friendly, while others are for adults only. Since improv, is largely unscripted, each show will be different, so you can keep coming back and see a totally different show each time!
While this theater does not serve food, they do serve drinks. Make sure you bring your ID if you plan on having a cocktail during the show!
