The Color Run in Myrtle Beach
Myrtle Beach will soon be the site of a unique and fun race – The Color Run.
You’ve already been training for that other upcoming 5k or you’ve wanted to try to run a 5k but haven’t been motivated enough to do so yet? Are we right?
Well then Myrtle Beach’s Color Run is the perfect event for you.
Dubbed as the “Happiest 5k on the Planet,” this run is meant to be fun. Nobody gets timed and thousands of racers head through the course covered in a variety of colors. During the race you will come upon each new kilometer as you get drenched in color.
This race isn’t full of rules that you have to follow, except for two (they’re easy, we promise). The first is that you have to wear a white t-shirt (logos on them are fine) when you start the race and the second is that you end the race covered in colors. Easy, isn’t it?
Still not sure if this event is for you? Well, here is a fact that might surprise you – more than half, yes half, of the participants are first-timers when it comes to 5k’s. There’s no first place, no best times, only fun. If you want to, you can also walk or heck, you can do cartwheels through the whole course!
Ready to do it? The Myrtle Beach Color Run will be on Nov. 9 at 9 a.m. and will take place at Broadway at the Beach, with the check-in party being held the day before by Margaritaville from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Registration is for all ages and is $45 if you register in October and $50 if you register Nov. 1 and on. If you want to gather a team of four or more together you can do so at the cost of $40 per person if registered before Nov. 1 and $45 beginning on Nov. 1. As a registered participant you will get a Color Run t-shirt, bag of color, sweat band and more. The event will also be supporting local charity SOS Autism Health Care, Inc., so be assured that your entry fee will be going towards a good cause.
During the race, be prepared to get covered in powdered color (don’t worry, it’s safe)! At the end you will be covered in purples, blues, pinks and greens! Most of the color should wash out, but just to be safe, you may want to wear some clothes that you aren’t too worried about. There’s also a center lane that you can run or walk in that will allow you to get less color on you and at the end you can get some of the color off of you by going by their air blowers (or you can leave the color on you too!). Just to be safe you may want to pack an extra beach towel to sit on in your car.
Most of all, just be prepared to have fun!
