Things to do in April 2013 in Myrtle Beach

April 2013 is the perfect time to visit Myrtle Beach. Flowers are blooming, the ocean is becoming warmer and the air is beginning to feel a bit like summer without being too hot.

With average highs in the mid-70s for the month of April, hotel BLUE in Myrtle Beach is the perfect place to relax. Plus, April is the host of many fun activities along the Grand Strand.

Throughout the month there are many activities at hotel BLUE and our sister resort, Captain’s Quarters. One of the most popular events that will take place is the Chief Kamu’s Fire and Hula Show at Captain’s Quarters on April 13, 20 and 27 (weather-permitting) at 8 p.m. Learn the hula and watch as Chief Kamu shows off his fire skills! You don’t need to go to Hawaii to see a show like this; just head on out to the poolside lawn at Captain’s Quarters for a show you won’t forget!

On certain days during April there will be live entertainment poolside at both resorts, weather permitting. On April 13, 20 and 27 there will be a band playing at Captain’s Quarters Resort from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. At hotel BLUE there will be a DJ spinning the latest hits on April 13, 20 and 27 from noon until 4 p.m. Spend the afternoon at one pool or visit them both!

If you want to get out for a night of laughs, Carolina Improv has you covered with their “Whose Beach Is It Anyways?” show at the Uptown Theater in the Myrtle Beach Mall. This show begins at 7:30 p.m. on April 4, 6, 13, 20 and 27. They will also have their “Whose Night Out Is It Anyway?” show on April 5, 12, 19 and 26 at 7:30 p.m. Or, if you would like to see a stand-up comedian, check out Greg Morton at the Comedy Cabana on April 2 – 6. Be sure to get your tickets ahead of time, because these shows can sell out!

AlabamaThere will also be a variety of concerts throughout the month of April in Myrtle Beach including Anthony Hamilton at the House of Blues on April 5; Alabama at the Alabama Theatre April 5 and 6 (regular tickets sold out); Sister Hazel at the HOB on April 12; Darius Rucker at the HOB on April 13; Nantucket at 2001 Nightclub on April 27; and Papa Roach at the HOB on April 30.

Special events also fill the air this April including the Myrtle Beach Elvis Fest (for you Elvis fans out there) on April 5 and 6 at Broadway at the Beach and the Palace Theatre; Gears, Gowns and Grapes (a car show, fashion show and wine tasting) on April 6 in Murrells Inlet; La Belle Amie Vineyard’s Blues & Jazz Fest on April 6 and April Music Fest on April 20; the Third Annual f.l.a.v.o.r. restaurant event on April 9 at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center; Monday after the Masters at Barefoot Golf Resort on April 15; Divas Half Marathon and 5k in North Myrtle Beach on April 25 – 29; and Barstool Blackout Tour at the HOB on April 27.
