Plus, with less crowds, you will likely experience shorter lines at attractions, little to no wait at restaurants and plenty of elbow room on the beach. When you stay at hotel BLUE in December, January or February there are plenty of Myrtle Beach resort amenities that you can enjoy, despite the milder weather outside. Our indoor lazy river is a great place to float away the day. Or, you can head outside to our large oceanfront hot tub. Don’t forget, we also have the beach right outside our resort so you can relax with a good book while watching the waves or take morning walks along the beach. A bonus to staying at hotel BLUE is that you can take advantage of the amenities at the Captain’s Quarters building, just a couple blocks over. There you can take a dip in the indoor pool or purchase an oceanfront breakfast. The off-season opportunities are endless!
Ride on the SkyWheel

- Tip: Visit around sunset for an amazing view!
Since the Myrtle Beach SkyWheel features enclosed gondolas you don’t have to worry about what the temperature may be outside. Take a ride on the SkyWheel and view amazing sights! Plus during the off season you won’t have to worry about waiting in long lines. Make sure you visit this Myrtle Beach attraction in December, January or February!
Visit the Aquarium

The fish and sharks of Myrtle Beach's Ripley’s Aquarium are there year round so why not pay them a visit? The aquarium is much less crowded during the winter months (except when children are off of school) providing visitors more time to enjoy the displays and learn more about the sea creatures.
Walk the Boardwalk
- Where: Myrtle Beach Boardwalk
- Distance from hotel BLUE: 0.6 miles (to south end)
- Tip: Wear comfortable walking shoes.
Just a short ways south of our hotel is the popular Myrtle Beach Boardwalk. Busy during the summer, it is a great respite during the off-season. Get great photos and enjoy a leisurely stroll without the crowds.
Search for Shells
- Where: Outside the resort!
- Distance from hotel BLUE: 0 miles
- Tip: Head out right before or after high tide for some of the best chances at finding great shells.
The beach is right outside our door, so why not take advantage of it?! Grab a bag and head out to the beach to search for shells. During the off season you will have a better chance at finding what you are looking for since a lot less people will be out shell hunting during the months of December, January and February. If you are looking for them, you may even locate some shark's teeth during your stay!
Stroll through Brookgreen Gardens
- Where: Murrells Inlet off Hwy. 17
- Distance from hotel BLUE: 18 miles
- Tip: Plan to spend an entire day here.
Brookgreen Gardens is a popular Myrtle Beach area attraction that stays open year-round. It’s much easier to explore the gardens without having to worry about the hot sun boiling down on you. Just grab a light jacket and head on down to Murrells Inlet, just a short drive south. After visiting the gardens, plan to head to the nearby Murrells Inlet MarshWalk for a delicious dinner with a view.

Golfing during the off-season is one of the best things you can do while on vacation in Myrtle Beach. Courses are less crowded so you’ll have your pick of tee-times. Try out the courses at Dunes Club, King’s North and Arrowhead Country Club. They’re open year round and are great Myrtle Beach golf courses.

Taking place January 6 - 8, 2022, this boat and sportsman show will be held at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center. This show is great to attend if you own a boat, are looking to buy a boat, if you love to fish and if you just enjoy participating in outdoor activities. Browse an array of vendors from biking and camping gear to fishing tackle to ATVs and beyond. The expo is rounded out with seminars and special events.
Conway Chocolate Walk | February
