Bicycle Riding in Myrtle Beach

When you are on vacation, riding a bike may be the last thing on your mind; but what about the added convenience of getting to nearby attractions without having to worry about where to park? Or what about enjoying a leisurely ride through Myrtle Beach and breathing in the fresh air?

Here at hotel BLUE we make it easy to be able to have this experience while on your vacation. Just come on up to the front desk, where you can check out a bicycle for the day that we have right here on property! For just $15 a day, you can use one of our bikes until 9 p.m.

Wondering where you can ride that’s not too far away? Downtown Myrtle Beach, where you can park your bike and take a stroll on the Boardwalk, is just a short ride away. Want to check out some rides? Family Kingdom is even closer and you can easily get there on your bike. Looking to do some fishing or have dinner at a pier? Second Avenue Pier is just a short bike ride away.

Before you head out on your bike, here are some tips to help keep you safe and in the know:

  • Bikes are permitted on the actual beach before 10 a.m. or after 5 p.m. during the summer (May 1 through Labor Day).

  • If you are looking to take a ride on the Boardwalk from May 1 through Labor Day, then you will need to be there between 5 a.m. and 10 a.m. when bicycles are permitted.

  • Be sure to stay on the far right lane and go with the flow of traffic when riding on streets, but if there is an available bike lane, stick to that. Be sure to check out the bike lane that goes in front of hotel BLUE, which runs from 29th Avenue South to 6th Avenue North.

  • In Myrtle Beach, bicycles are not allowed to ride on regular sidewalks, however there are some paths in Myrtle Beach that are wider that are meant for this sort of use. Click here for a city map that shows where these paths and bike lanes are.

  • When you are crossing the street on your bike and there is a pedestrian crosswalk, you must walk your bike across the street.

  • If you ride after dark, be sure to have a headlight on the front of your bike and a red reflector on the back of the bike.

This are just a few tips to help you be prepared for your time bicycling in Myrtle Beach. Have fun riding your bicycle and exploring Myrtle Beach from a new perspective! And don’t forget your helmet!
